We aim to promote the art and craft of home brewing. This includes beer, wine and mead. We help introduce the hobby to new brewers and help existing brewers improve their craft.

O-Town Hop Heads Meeting - 2012/01/12

I would like to thank my brewing brothers and sister from the O-Town Hops Heads (http://o-townhopheads.tripod.com) for welcoming me to their club meeting.  I really enjoyed the evening.

This month's meeting was hosted by Union Station Fermentation located on Historic 25th Street in downtown Ogden Utah. Things started about 6:30 pm with people starting to filter into the shop. It was fun to see the number of people that came in with a bottle or two to share and get feedback on.

Cache Brewing Society Softball Tournament

This Thursday the 27th CBS plays in the softball tournament to end it's first season.  We play at 6 pm at Willow Park against the Clock Tower Plaza team, which we beat earlier in the season 9-6.  If we win we will play again at 7 pm and then again at 9 pm if we win again.
We would sure appreciate it if our thirsty Cache Valley fans came and cheered us on and joined us at Andy's house for a post tournament celebratory beer or two.

Oktoberfest 2011

This Saturday the 8th of October I will be hosting our 3rd annual Oktoberfest party.  So bust out your dirndls and lederhosen along with your favorite potluck dish and come on down to my house around two for some nice German lager and a good time.

Cache Brewing Society Co-Ed 2-pitch softball team

Just wanted to let everyone know that the CBS now has a softball team.  We play on Thursday nights.  This week (9/22) we play at 6pm and 9pm on field 4 at Willow Park.  We would love your support so come on out and cheer us on.

Thanks,
Andy

Beehive Brew-Off Entries

Entries for the Beehive Brew-Off were drppped off today at The Beer Nut. I sent in two meads, Karen sent in a beer and Andy sent in three beers. Not a huge club entry landslide, but it is our first showing at the competition. It is just another reminder that people in Cache Valley like home brew.
On Sunday, August 22nd there will be an awards presentation at The Bayou starting at 5:00pm. Jamie over at The Beer Nut invited any CBS member to come on down if we could, but she said that score sheets would be mailed if we are unable to attend.

2011 Beehive Brew-Off

The time is approaching for the 3rd Annual Beehive Brew-Off. It is a BJCP brewing competition for the State of Utah and the surrounding areas. Entries are $5.00 each consisting of three 12 oz bottles. Entries for this year's competition will be accepted at The Beer Nut in Salt Lake City begining August 1st through August 15th.
This is a wonderful opportunity to have your beer judged by BJCP judges and/or professional brewers from the State of Utah.

AHA Rally in SLC

Last night the Cache Brewing Society made a the trip to Salt Lake City for the American Homebrewers Association's Rally.  It was one helluva a good time. I was blown away as we entered and found out that everything was free. All beers were free (in Utah!) and they even had high ABV beers on tap for samples. (In Utah only 4% beers are allowed on tap.)We were given free run of the brewery and Charlie Papazian was there for a meet and greet. The Beer Nut, a SLC homebrew store, gave away tshirts, stickers and bottle openers.

Rising Waters Light Lager

I had a request from a friend's Mom to brew a beer for her husband's graduation party.  So naturally I had to ask what style of beer do you like?  This question was met with an understandable blank look.  So I figured I would try a different approach.  "What is your favorite beer?"  "Asahi Super Dry" was the response.
